2026 Alabama Authors Day

Join Historic Blakeley State Park and Historic Oakleigh for a unique day celebrating Alabama authors, local history, and coastal culture on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event is perfect for book lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy a meaningful day along the Gulf Coast.​​ This special event features the following activities:​

  • Author talks and book signings 

  • Author vendor booths and food trucks

  • Guided tours of Historic Oakleigh 

  • Mobile Harbor cruises 

Alabama Authors Day Historic Oakleigh Tours and Author Talks
  • Alabama Authors Day vendor booths, tours, and food trucks begin at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Oakleigh, 350 Oakleigh Place, Mobile, AL 36604

  • Themed Historic Oakleigh tours highlighting authors and artists begin at 10:00 a.m. and every half hour thereafter until the last tour at 4:00 p.m. (tickets may be purchased at Historic Oakleigh before the tour begins)

  • Free author talks will be held at the Cox-Deasy House on site at Historic Oakleigh (no tour ticket required, limited seating):

    • 11:00 a.m. - Featuring Author Henry Sledge

    • 1:00 p.m. - Featuring Author Kelly Kazek

    • 3:00 p.m. - Featuring Frye Gaillard​​

Alabama Authors Day Harbor Cruises​
  • Mobile Harbor cruises are presented by Historic Blakeley State Park 

  • Two 1-1/2-hour harbor tours are available, one at 9:00 a.m. and one at 11:00 a.m.

  • An advanced ticket is required for the harbor tour (prices vary)

  • Learn more about and purchase harbor cruise tickets here

  • Tours depart behind the Mobile Convention Center on Water Street

  • All harbor tour attendees will receive a discount on the Historic Oakleigh tour the day of the event
