Alabama News

Eleven new properties were added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage. Created by the Alabama Historical Commission, the ARLH recognizes buildings, structures, sites, objects, and districts of historical, architectural and/or archaeological significance. The August newsletter of the Alabama Historical Commission has all the information.


The Historic Mobile Preservation Society and the Oakleigh house are pleased to announce that Taylor Voltz has assumed the position of Director with our team. Taylor holds a BA in American History from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Preservation Studies from Tulane University's School of Architecture. She is a recent transplant to Mobile and has already immersed herself in the preservation community here.

We are excited to have Taylor's dedication, hard work, and expertise focused on the Historic Mobile Preservation Society and on supporting the Historic Oakleigh House Museum. Please join us in welcoming Taylor to her new position and to our team!
